This role is critical to ensuring secure, compliant, and reliable software delivery across mainframe systems.You will be responsible for managing source code libraries, automating software configuration management (SCM) tasks, and supporting development and operations teams through the full lifecycle of software changes.Responsibilites:
  • Manage and maintain Panvalet libraries for source code, JCL, macros, and copybooks.
  • Administer ChangeMan ZMF packages across environments (DEV → TEST → QA → PROD).
  • Perform impact analysis, troubleshoot promotion failures, and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  • Automate SCM tasks using REXX, CLIST, and JCL scripting.
  • Collaborate with developers, operations, and governance teams to ensure smooth software delivery.
  • Document SCM processes and provide training to ensure consistent practices.

  • Strong knowledge of z/OS, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, datasets (PS, PDS, VSAM).
  • Proficiency in JCL (Job Control Language) for batch jobs and utilities.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, Easytrieve (to support and migrate source code).
  • Experience with mainframe scheduling tools (Control-M, CA-7, etc.).
2. Panvalet (CA Panvalet)
  • Expertise in managing Panvalet libraries for source code, macros, copybooks, JCL.
  • Version control, check-in/check-out, and member management.
  • Using Panvalet utilities (PAN# utilities) for maintenance and automation.
  • Integration of Panvalet with compilers and batch streams.
3. ChangeMan ZMF (Serena ChangeMan)
  • Hands-on experience with software change and configuration management lifecycle.
  • Creating, promoting, installing, and backing out packages across environments (DEV → TEST → QA → PROD).
  • Performing impact analysis of code changes before promotion.
  • Managing approvals, audits, and compliance processes.
  • Troubleshooting package promotion and installation failures.
4. Automation & Scripting
  • REXX and CLIST scripting for automating SCM and operational tasks.
  • JCL automation for migrations, versioning, and builds.
  • Use of SORT, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, IEBCOPY and other utilities for dataset handling.
5. Soft Skills
  • Analytical skills: quickly resolving code promotion and migration issues.
  • Communication skills: bridging developers, operations, and management.
  • Documentation & training: creating guidelines for consistent SCM practices.
  • High attention to detail to prevent production issues.
