Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and self-driven Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) + MySQL Administrator with strong experience in managing MySQL databases in cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with OCI, MySQL administration, and preferably Heatwave and/or Percona tools and utilities.Key Responsibilities:Architect, implement, and manage high-performance MySQL solutions on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Lead performance tuning, query optimization, and schema design efforts across production and non-production environments.
Design and implement replication, backup/restore, disaster recovery, and high-availability (HA) strategies. Own monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning of MySQL infrastructure.
Act as SME for MySQL + OCI database stack and advise DevOps and development teams on best practices.
Evaluate and implement advanced features such as OCI HeatWave for analytics or Percona Toolkit for enhanced performance and diagnostics.
Automate database tasks and participate in CI/CD pipeline enhancements related to DB operations.
Troubleshoot critical incidents and lead root cause analysis (RCA) post-mortems.
Mentor junior DBAs or engineers and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams.Required Skills & Experience:8+ years of hands-on experience as a MySQL DBA or Database Engineer.
3+ years of experience managing MySQL on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Proven expertise in MySQL performance tuning, query optimization, replication, and HA/DR setups.
Hands-on experience with OCI DB services, networking, storage, IAM, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
Familiarity with OCI HeatWave and/or Percona tools (PMM, Percona XtraBackup, etc.).
Proficiency in automation and scripting using Bash, Python, or similar.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and diagnostic skills.
Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus/Grafana, PMM, or Cloud-native dashboards.
Deep understanding of database security, encryption, and compliance.
