We at the EDGE (Engineering Delivery for Growth Enablement) develop, design, and deliver high-quality business applications, software solutions and services to meet J&J business technology requirements. Our offices are newly crafted, specifically to accommodate Scrum development, self-organizing and autonomous teams in an open and highly collaborative environment.The role requires a broad knowledge of existing data engineering solutions, experience with a variety of structured and unstructured data sources in the healthcare field, the ability to collaborate closely and influence team members in a constantly evolving environment; creativity to invent, customize and work in a multidisciplinary environment to drive business solutions and exposure to new technologies.Responsibilities:
- Be the technical Leader of Data Engineers and together with the team deliver innovation and resolve how to best support the business through the effective use of technology and coordinating end-to-end activities.
- Mentor the analytics and engineering team to promote data engineering best practices and drive cross-analytics platforms.
- Get along with multi-functional teams, including Enterprise Architecture, Platform Services and other Development Centers to ensure solutions completeness and team exposure.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
- Extensive experience (5+ years) working as a Data Engineer, with a strong focus on serverless Data Lake architecture on Microsoft Azure, leveraging services like Azure Data Lake, Data Factory and Apache Spark to efficiently manage large-scale data workflows.
- Deep expertise in data transformation and enrichment using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or similar platforms, combined with advanced proficiency in DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) for scalable, automated cloud deployments.
- Strong command of observability frameworks—monitoring, logging, and tracing—to ensure system reliability and operational excellence.
- Familiarity with data quality tools such as SODA and Great Expectations to uphold data integrity and trust across the organization.
- Advanced programming skills in Spark and Python, with solid experience in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Proficiency in Data modelling (multidimensional), data enrichment, and data profiling is required, including star and snowflake schemas.
- Proven ability to optimize data storage and retrieval using Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Synapse Analytics for seamless, high-speed access.
- Experience in monitoring and troubleshooting Data Lake infrastructure, resolving performance bottlenecks and ensuring smooth data operations.
- A commitment to mentoring junior engineers, providing technical guidance, and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Strong collaboration skills to work cross-functionally, translating business requirements into impactful data solutions delivered on time.
- Strategic thinking in product management, business analytics, and solving complex technical challenges.
- Visionary leadership in analytics platform roadmapping, with experience in Power BI and a proven ability to partner with analysts and data scientists to deliver actionable insights.
- Strong leadership skills, facilitating issues to resolution.
- Experience in leading projects.
- Must have good planning, organizational, and decision-making skills.
