- Identify milestones and drivers for the project in collaboration with the Project Manager
- Determine and plan necessary activities/resources in collaboration with the Project Manager, Team Leaders and planners
- Effectively communicate with project team, management and with client
- Motivate and involve project team in technical issues, meetings, sub-suppliers etc.
- Coordinate Design Review internal as well as external
- Coordinate steering committee meetings as agreed
- Project Approval of documents for the Project Manager as agreed
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures
- Serve as the technical point-of-contact for designated projects
- Outline detailed scope of work (including Variation Orders)
- Be aware of contract, client specifications, requirements and qualifications
- Focus on the external/internal interfaces and coordinate/ensure that technical information is obtained and agreed with client according to project schedule
- Ensure coherent and consistent technical solutions across engineering departments
- Identify and manage risk with respect to technical and schedule for engineering, procurement and production
- Answer or coordinate client queries/presentations with team
- Ensure that relevant standards and client specs are applied and met
- Details in areas of responsibility (production, contact to client, cost, etc.) should be agreed between Project Manager and Technical Manager on a case-by-case basis.
- Monitor technical project activities to assure costs and gross margins are met
- Project Manager: Cost and Time (planning and commercial)
- Technical Manager: Quality and Scope (interfaces and delivery)
- Engineering groups: Detailed design, analyses and documentation according to milestones
- Familiarity with products, design methodologies, tests and client requirements
- General understanding of NOV's role, competences, limitations and strategies
- Understanding of Risk & Opportunities
- Strong and broad technical background
- Acute sense of technical possibilities and the ability to make correct judgments (also in the absence of data)
- Capable of performing some technical work yourself
- Manage drivers, risks and consequences of decisions
- Ability to set and communicate project priorities and target milestones
- Ability and willingness to lead and motivate a team by own personality and stamina
