- Curricular Alignment:
- Organize, review, and monitor educators' activities within the Humanities subjects to ensure alignment with the learning objectives of the national curriculum (BNCC) and international programs.
- Ensure teaching practices integrate contemporary issues, interdisciplinary approaches, and methodologies that promote historical awareness, spatial thinking, social consciousness, and philosophical inquiry.
- Project Planning and Collaboration:
- Meet regularly with educators in social sciences to understand their ongoing projects and support the planning process.
- Collaborate with educators through each step of the backward design process to develop units that promote investigation, source analysis, debate, and interpretation of sociocultural contexts.
- Assist in embedding global citizenship, diversity, sustainability, and human rights into the curriculum.
- Assessment Development:
- Assist educators in designing authentic and formative assessments that foster critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and social and spatial analysis.
- Ensure assessments align with established learning goals and reflect the complexity and diversity of the subjects.
- Communication and Engagement:
- Review and refine project letters and communications to families to ensure clarity, cultural sensitivity, and relevance, particularly when addressing complex historical or philosophical themes.
- Share project overviews and updates with the division principal to keep them informed of progress and project development.
- Classroom Support:
- Observe Humanities lessons and provide constructive feedback and strategies that support student engagement, critical inquiry, and inclusive discussion.
- Suggest resources and techniques that promote source-based inquiry, ethical reflection, and active participation.
- Meetings and Reporting:
- Conduct weekly meetings with principals to present project overviews, track learning progress, and address any significant challenges, along with strategies for resolution.
- Share observations, data, and recommendations based on classroom practices and student outcomes.
- Professional Development:
- Identify professional development needs based on classroom observations and project deliverables in the Humanities.
- Work with school leaders to design and deliver targeted professional learning on topics such as decolonial teaching, human rights education, inquiry-based learning, and critical pedagogy.
- Community Engagement:
- Represent the Humanities department in school events and academic presentations to foster engagement with students, families, and the broader school community.
- Support student involvement in community service, cultural projects, and interdisciplinary exhibitions.
- Cultural Diversity and Resources:
- Assist in curating and promoting inclusive, diverse, and international teaching resources that reflect a wide range of cultures, worldviews, and historical perspectives.
- Promote the use of multiple and representative sources and voices in all Humanities subjects.
- Flexible Role:
- Be prepared to take on classroom instruction and additional duties as needed, especially in cases of educator absence or emerging school needs.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary teaching initiatives and whole-school projects.
- Other Duties:
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Division Principal that support the educational mission and growth of the school community.
- • Bachelor's degree in Geography, History, Philosophy, or Sociology - preferably more than one of these areas.
- • Extensive knowledge of educational topics, educational technologies, innovative tools, and digital platforms.
- • Experience in instructional design and pedagogical development practices.
- • Experience leading Innovation Workshops.
- • Experience in educator training and professional development.
- • Certifications and technical courses in the field of education or related areas.
- • Classroom teaching experience.
- • Knowledge of Active Learning Methodologies and Agile Practices.
- • Familiarity with international curricula.
