- Execute CFD services to marine clients related to hull and propeller modification, hydrodynamic and aerodynamic energy efficiency technologies, trim optimization, and performance.
- Be one of the focal points of contact for CFD-related services in ABS Global Sustainability: Interacts with clients to identify/resolve problems in technical expertise.
- Maintain and improve ABS Numerical Calculation tools concerning the CFD services
- Manage client projects related to CFD: Take the lead in projects related to vessel performance CFD services
- Communicates the status of the current workload to all appropriate members of the team to ensure the needs of the clients will be met.
- Develop numerical analysis-based services and products
- Contribute to the development of tools and services for ABS Global Sustainability.
- Initiate and participate in joint development/industry projects with clients or OEMs.
- Attend industry events and conferences and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
- Develop a thorough understanding of national and international regulatory developments with environmental protection and update and inform the Global Sustainability team accordingly. May contribute to authoring ABS publications and thought leadership documents.
- Conduct seminars and workshops as requested.
- Expected to be updated on emerging regulatory framework related to GHG emissions.
- Support the associated service delivery across all geographic locations of Sustainability (Houston, Athens, Copenhagen, Singapore).
- Maintain awareness of the overall ABS service portfolio and promote services/products when appropriate
- Identify opportunities for marketing campaigns within the area of responsibility that will lead to increased sales.
- Submit reports as needed and ensure data is accurately entered and managed within the company's CRM
- Work as a team member or autonomously, as required.
- Typically requires a BS in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on environmental performance. A postgraduate degree in engineering (MSc, MEng, or Ph.D.) is not required but would be an asset.
- 3 years' experience in CFD projects
- Overall, 4-year related engineering experience in a recognized research university, research institute, shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, or classification society.
- Track record in applying CFD and data analysis software tools to deliver technical solutions to clients.
- Track record in the technical domains of hydrodynamics and naval architecture. Knowledge of aerodynamics would be considered a plus, but not required.
- Working knowledge of Linux and CAD packages (e.g., Rhino 3D).
- Knowledge of the following software will be considered as an asset: Hexpress mesher, OpenFoam, StarCCM+, and Paraview.
- Proficiency with scripting and coding languages for pre-processing, post-processing, and data analytics (python, or other).
- Ability to solve complex problems by applying practical and theoretical knowledge.
- Ability to work on your own or as part of a team on larger projects.
- Ability to organize, plan, monitor, and control project requirements, budgets, schedules, and technical work.
- Experience with either marine or offshore applications.
- Experience with programming and advanced use of MS Office.
- Must be capable of presenting and working with clients.
- Excellent communication skills (oral & written), enabling effective communication at multiple levels
- Strong commitment to ethical business practices, in full accordance with relevant corporate policies
- Proficiency in the English language
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.
