
Physical Security Specialist III, DCC Communities

- Direct and manage a contract guard force at the cluster level, overseeing more than 200 people in daily data center operations
- Handle multiple sites operations including, security incidents, escalations, or any other security related issues
- Provide after-hours on-call management support, and participate in emergent, large scale event response when needed
- Participate in recurring data center security audits and reviews
- Execute established processes in compliance with AWS policies, standards, guidelines and relevant legal and regulatory requirements
- Provide input on, and develop security methodologies, policies and procedures
- Write reports and communicate with management on the status of physical security operations
- Oversee new security construction or retrofit projects
- Assist management with financial analysis, and contribute to financial decisions for security requirements
- Collaborate with other teams to protect AWS Data Center personnel, information and assets
Security Operations & Strategy:
- Own the security operation of multiple sites
- Implement overarching security strategy through daily tactics to reach management goals
- Ability to walk a facility, and observe security gaps in physical barriers, security officer procedure, policies, surveillance equipment, and alarm points
- Investigate accidents, thefts, disturbances, discrepancies
- Drive campaigns to enhance security awareness
- Manage Contract Guard Force (CGF) contract
- Establish SMART goals for the CGF and drive their completion
- Oversee physical security sub-contractors that provide guards, electronic security systems, door repair, fencing, and access controls
- Oversee security construction projects
- Enhance existing CGF physical security training program while identifying key metrics to measure success
- Teach others to execute proper security processes and methods
- Experience with workflow ticketing, and extraction of performance metrics
- > 5 years of security operations experience
- Able to perform structured security risk assessments
- Able to investigate site incidents and provide detailed reports
- Able to analyze situations, make quick decisions and formulate action plans
- Experience in training others in security procedures
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in security or related fields
- > 3 years of Vendor Management
- Must be capable of creating and managing key performance metrics
- Able to work independently with little direction
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft office tools such as outlook, word excel and power point
- Must be fluent in English (reading, writing and speaking)
- Must have a valid driver's license and must be able to travel locally and internationally
- Must have their own car
- Required to participate in on-call rotation
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Member of a security professional body (e.g. ASIS)
- Security specific qualifications/certifications, and/or proof of continued personal development
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as ISO 31000
- Working knowledge of access control and video surveillance equipment (Lenel and/or Bosch)
- Ability to develop, implement, and maintain Business Continuity Plans (BCP)
- Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment where numerous systems/applications/software are highly dependent
